The main modes of cross-border e-commerce logistics
There are several main modes of cross-border e-commerce logistics: traditional express package mode, centralized shipping mode, international express mode, and overseas warehouse mode.
Traditional express package mode
Traditional express packages, also known as postal parcels or postal parcels, are currently the main logistics model for cross-border e-commerce in China. Postal parcels have a wide coverage, which is the most suitable logistics model for cross-border e-commerce. Postal parcels cover over 230 countries and regions worldwide, and can be delivered almost anywhere in the world. According to statistics, over 70% of cross-border logistics packages in China are transported through traditional express delivery methods.
Centralized shipping mode
The centralized shipping mode, also known as the dedicated logistics mode, generally involves using an airline dedicated line to send packages from multiple buyers in the same region to the destination country or region, and then delivering them through local cooperative companies or logistics branches. Due to its scale effect of centralized parcel delivery and the fact that it is mostly transported by air, its logistics efficiency and transportation costs will be higher than postal parcels and lower than international express delivery.
International express delivery mode
The international express delivery mode is a faster and more expensive mode of transportation. Its greater advantage lies in the service, with a good customer experience. However, due to its high cost, sellers usually do not actively choose international express delivery mode to send goods unless buyers specifically request timeliness or transportation safety. Therefore, the international express delivery model has a relatively small market share in cross-border e-commerce.
Overseas warehouse mode
The overseas warehouse model is that cross-border e-commerce sellers first prepare goods in advance and deliver them to the logistics warehouse in the destination country. After the customer places an order on the seller's e-commerce website or third-party store, the goods are directly shipped from the overseas warehouse to the customer. This can improve logistics efficiency and provide customers with a high-quality logistics experience
